Yard House Plants approached us to help modernise their greenhouse shading process. The company faced the operational challenge of applying shading to large expanse of greenhouse roof aiming to reduce temperatures during this year's heatwave.

The task: Shade 16,000 square metres of glasshouse roof, applying ReduSol at 200 litres per hectare. The same job done by hand meant ladders and crawling boards, moving along gutter channels with workers at height, and big runs of glass making access highly impractical for manual application. Yard House Plants estimated the manual job at 6 weeks.
Outcome: We covered the full 16,000 square metres in just 6 hours. Drones fly above the structure, so nothing made contact with the glass and nobody went on the roof at any point. Application was even across the whole area and the team recorded an average five degree drop in internal temperature shortly after coverage. Applying by drone used less shading paint than a manual method would have with reliable flow rate and travel speed across the whole roof. Six weeks of access planning and manual work reduced to a single working day.
