Seed no matter the gradient. A tractor and seeder has a slope limit because it can slide. A person with a bag has one for the same reason. A drone flying above has neither. That is why a 1-in-2 embankment, a soil bund and a flat field are all the same job to us.
Nothing touches your reinstatement. No wheels, no tracks, no boots, no barrows. Freshly graded topsoil, established sward and existing ground cover are exactly as your team left them when we drive off, and there are tyre marks or footprints over what's already taken.
Uniform application rate across the whole area determined by a machine, not a person casting seeds. Seed application rate is controlled by the drone. Even distribution is no longer down to how careful somebody was feeling at 4pm. Precision placement also means up to 15% less seed wasted.
Long and narrow areas are just fine. A 6m wide strip running a few kilometres down a motorway is a nightmare for machines and a long walk by hand. To us it's a simple flight line.

Why seeding awkward terrain goes wrong
Access difficulty slows you down
The Challenge: A freshly terraformed embankment, a soil bund, a bank behind a golf tee. The gradient rules out a tractor and seeder, the surface is too soft, new or steep. So the job gets handed to people on foot by default, not by choice.
The Solution: We work from the air, so the gradient is irrelevant to us - a machine that never touches the face cannot slip on it, rut it, or compact it. If we can stand somewhere safe within sight of the work and the airspace is clear, we can seed it, whether that's a 1-in-2 bank, a soil heap or a strip of ground with no vehicle access at all.
A team and a week of work
The Challenge: Hand casting is what actually happens on these jobs. People walking a bank with bags, up and back, on a gradient, trying to hand cast seeds. You're paying for every one of those days of work whether the seed goes down evenly or not.
The Solution: Do the sum on a motorway verge: 8km long, 6m wide, is 48,000 m² - 4.8 hectares. We frequently handle 100+ hectare seeding projects in a single day so a small area of awkward terrain is no trouble for us. Drone seeding is far superior to hand casting, we fly meters above the inaccessible terrain spreading seeds at exactly the rate you need - evenly.

- Your specified seed mix applied at your specified rate, flown to mapped lines above the face.

- Airspace assessment, permissions and flight paperwork handled by us, plus a site-specific risk assessment and method statement for your file before the works.
- The as-flown coverage map of your site, so you can see what was actually covered rather than take our word for it.
- An application record sheet - date, seed mix, rate, area, wind, operator - ready for your handover pack.
On price. Our rate is £35 per hectare and we'll be happy to work out a discount for larger jobs. We quote you a fixed price from your boundary and drawings rather than off a rate card, and we won't charge you more than the job is worth to you. If a site is too small to be worth mobilising for, we'll tell you that instead of quoting for it.

Get your difficult ground seeded this season
